Week Two – Mighty God

This Weeks Touchpoint from Pastor Finu

Application Points

To help you build a healthy spiritual rhythm here are some question to explore daily this week:

  1. Is your life (daily through prayer, worship, and the word) built on Christ?
  2. Would you acknowledge to God that you need Him to be with you through your life’s journey?
  3. Do you frequently confess that God is your ally and is with you through every season of life?
  4. Will you step out today onto the field of battle and trust God for His might to be revealed through your life?

This weeks challenge: Bring to mind areas of your life where you recognize God expects you to engage in the fight. Write them down and ask God to train to fight well, confessing that He is your ally and you are ‘mighty’ in and through the power of Jesus’ name. At the end of the week write down how you have progressed in these areas and the victories you have begun to see.

Leadership Devotional

My Hero – Mighty God

By Carolyn Soldano

Where do I start to begin telling you how mighty our God is?

This is the God who parted the Red Sea, who brought down the walls of Jericho, who had the sun stand still and who showed up in a fiery furnace!

He is also the God who saves, heals and delivers.

He knows you from before you were in your mother’s womb and keeps track of the very hairs on your head.

How blessed you are to have and serve such a Mighty God and at the same time He’s a tender God towards His children.

I have experienced first hand His Might and Tenderness.

When I was sixteen years old my Daddy suddenly past away in a tragic accident.

I was left with such a pain of loss. I felt so lost and couldn’t function properly. My mother and sister were also in a devastated state. We were broken.

The only thing that brought us any comfort was knowing that a year before my Daddy had made a personal commitment to serve God. We knew he was with the Lord.

That did not stop Satan from trying to torment us.

I remember about a week after Daddy was gone and I was missing him terribly. My thought  was I just wanted to stop the pain. I stood on the curb of the road and thought I’ll just wait till a large truck goes by and I’ll jump in front of it.

What? Not even a thought of what the consequences were, I just wanted to stop hurting.

I stood there with tears streaming down my face.  Suddenly, yet gently a voice spoke to me,  I’m not even sure if it was audible or in my spirit.

He said “What about your Mother?” I literally gasped and stepped back from the curb.

You see, I had spent every night sitting up with her and holding her as she cried for my Daddy.

She had no one else who knew as well as I did the suffering pain she felt.

I knew I couldn’t add to her pain.

My Hero knew exactly what would save me.

He saved me that day!!

Zephaniah 3:17, ESV The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

We don’t always understand why events happen, but we trust in Him because He is Omniscient, He knows everything, He is all wise and sees everything!

Jeremiah 10:12, ESV It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.

Many years had passed and I would once again remember and rely on God’s faithfulness to us. This is where I know He gives a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. I truly needed a sound mind here.

I was advised to terminate my pregnancy as it was discovered through genetic testing that my child had down-syndrome.

A woman’s fear come true, something is wrong with your baby. I was gripped with fear of the unknown. What does our future look like? I was not about to give in, but my mind was spinning with what if’s.

My husband and I decided to contact everyone we knew, to join with us to pray throughout the pregnancy. I couldn’t abort my baby. Though we did testing to verify the genetic screen testing, we believed God would heal our baby. Five months later our beautiful AND perfectly healthy baby girl was born. Praise our Mighty God.

Matthew 19:26, ESV But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

When your situation may seem impossible, be confident, knowing He is Omnipotent, His mighty power is unlimited, He is able to do anything.

Psalm 147:5, NIV Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

As I go through life’s journey and the many mountain top and valley experiences, one thing I know and I share with you.

No matter where you are or what battle you are facing, you can be assured that He is Omnipresent, He is encountered everywhere at the same time!!

He is always with you.

Psalm 145:3, ESV Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable.

The God of the scriptures is the God of today. The God who helped Moses, Joshua and Daniel out of impossible situations is the same God who helped me out of my impossible situations. The God who helped me is the same God who can help you.

Remember that you serve a Mighty God and He is for you!!

May the Awesomeness of God’s Power always be evident in our lives.

Ephesians 6:10, ESV Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
