Week One – Wonderful Counsellor

This Weeks Touchpoint from Pastor Tony

Application Points

To help you build a healthy spiritual rhythm here are some question to explore daily this week:

  1. What is the path that you’re on?
  2. What do you believe about God?
  3. Are there areas in your life where you need wisdom or counsel?
  4. What are the things that are taking value away from you?

This weeks challenge: Bring to mind an area in your life where your belief about youself is not alignment with God’s word. Write it down and pray about it daily this week, allowing the Holy Spirit to meet you in that thought pattern. At the end of the week write down how you have progressed with that belief.

Leadership Devotional

A Wonderful Counsellor

By Marcelle Cammissa

Wonderful: extremely good; marvelous; inspiring delight, pleasure, or admiration.

Isaiah 9:6 calls Jesus Wonderful. In so many ways throughout my life, Jesus has been these 3 things to me: extremely good; marvelous; inspiring delight, pleasure, or admiration. The best way to explain how Jesus is Wonderful to me is to share with you a work experience I had this year.

March 21:

Received invitation to attend a conference hosted by the global learning team. Conference is to be hosted in September in Basel Switzerland.

April 4:

Discussed the possibility of attending the global conference with my manager. His response: “we’ll see”. In my experience “we’ll see” often means “no”.

July 25:

Weeks and months go by and the conference invitation is released again. Forward the invitation to my manager asking him to discuss the conference in our next 1:1 meeting. The invitation includes a call for conference presenters. My manager challenges me to submit a presentation idea – and if the idea is accepted he would fully support me to attend the conference.

Submitted a presentation idea to discuss a new virtual learning format we introduced to our local learners.

August 9:

Received no news so followed up with the conference organizer. He sent me a draft copy of the conference agenda. My idea was accepted and my name is listed on the agenda to present at the conference on Day 1 at 1 o’clock. I am both so excited and at the same time so nervous! What a wonderful opportunity!

September 4:

Flew to Zurich Switzerland followed by a train ride to Basel. Enjoyed a coffee and a visit with a global colleague in the Pebble Lounge – top floor of new headquarter building next to the Rhine River.

In May I celebrated 19 years of service with my employer. From the beginning, I desired to travel to the company’s headquarters. On this day I am pinching myself. Am I really here in Basel? Did the Lord really hear my heart those many years ago? Jesus is extremely good.

September 5-6:

Presented “InSync Learning Model” at global learning conference held at the University of Basel (oldest university founded in 1460). Session well attended and received. Enjoyed attending global colleagues’ presentations at the two-day conference.

I’ve been a Toastmasters member for many years honing my presentation and leadership skills. Being a member, prepared me to take on this presentation challenge with confidence. Preparation met opportunity – I am so grateful for this wonderful experience. Jesus is marvelous.

September 6-11:

Once the conference ended, Vito and I travelled by train to visit many wonderful Switzerland sites. At Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe) we had first row seats to God’s majestic mountains – spectacular. There’s a plaque with scripture inside the observatory tower: Psalm 66:5 Come and see the works of God. He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men.

Seeing the wonders of God first hand, Jesus inspired delight, pleasure, and admiration in my heart. I still reflect back on this experience and journey and how He orchestrated it all – for me. Jesus is Wonderful.
